A Sports Nutrition Dietitian Can Make a Difference

Proper nutrition is vital for sports and fitness performance because it provides the energy that allows you to perform and plays a big role in strength and recovery. The importance of sports nutrition is not only about the types of foods you eat, but the makeup of the food, and their timing around your exercise.

Food is made up of carbohydrates, proteins, and fats. Carbohydrates are the main source of energy, providing fuel for your exercise or sport, while protein is important for building muscle and aiding in recovery (although important, fat is less important around your exercise times). Not all sports require the same type of foods to perform optimally, so there is no one size fits all for nutrition.  Working with Registered Dietitian Nutritionist will help you determine the types of foods to consume, their macronutrient breakdown, and plan meal timing to set you up for success in your performance.
